Children's Ministry
At Broadway United, we believe in enriching our spiritual education even at an early age.
Children's Interests and Sunday School
Sunday School
Three Sunday school classes are available for children:
- Preschool/Kindergarten
- 1st & 2nd Grade
- 3-5th Grades (YUMS- Young United Methodist Students)
Classes have designated teachers with assistants. Each Sunday morning all ages meet together for Gathering Time from 9:30-9:45a.m., where we share prayer concerns or joys, discuss our week, talk about our Bible verse and have music with Ms. Natalie Krupansky, choir director, before going to our Sunday School Classes. Classes meet from 9:45-10:25a.m. and include Bible stories, Bible games, fellowship, and crafts. Children are scheduled to sing throughout the year during Sunday morning worship. Visitors are always welcome!
Children’s Moments
Children’s Moments are part of morning worship each Sunday. The children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary where Rev. Justin Ramer will present a “mini-lesson” that relates to the scripture and sermon for that day.
Wednesday Nights
September – December
Wednesday Nights include a family meal and programs from 5:00 -6:30 p.m. Children’s programs include learning how to serve God in our church as well as other missions.
January – February
The children participate in “Wednesday Outside the Walls”, where on selected nights, we have a meal together and include skating, bowling, or some other fun family event. Come join us as we learn, grow, and have fun together! Visitors are always welcome!
Seasonal Events
Various seasonal events are sponsored by the Children’s Ministry at Broadway United Methodist Church. Events include Broadway Rocks (our church wide kick off for fall events with games, food, fellowship and special music provided by local school jazz bands), Center Shot, Itty Bitty Broadway Bakers, Preschool Track Meet, Bible Stories Come to Life, Children’s Christmas Party, Family Advent Workshop, Live Nativity, Brooks Stadium Baseball Game, Brunch with the Bunny, and Vacation Bible School. We observe Children’s Sabbath and children present their annual Christmas Program during morning worship in December.
Kids in Mission
The children are taught to serve God by serving others. Missions the children participate in include UMCOR shoebox ministry (we have a children’s mission room and collect items year-round for this ministry), filling flood buckets, Scarf in the Park (collecting warm scarves, gloves and hats to be placed in our downtown area on Christmas Eve), collecting items for the local warming center, making cards for homebound church members, etc. Children learn the importance of helping others during these mission activities.
